How Embarrassing...

I found my jump drive from my second semester in college and on it was this video trailer I made my for my Theater Arts class, and it's sooooo baaaaaaaaaaaad! So if you'd like to watch it and laugh at it along with me, please feel free to. I can't believe I made something this terrible. So embarrassing...at least I like the music.

New Video! End of the Semester!

Hey all! here is my latest video for my film class. There is another one but I'm a little shy about posting it as the quality isn't as good as my other videos. If you really want to see it, let me know. So here is "Thick as Thieves", a movie about a botched robbery gone even worse when a smart-mouthed woman is taken hostage.

Movie Update!

I'm not even going to make excuses for why I didn't post this update a few weeks ago. I was simply lazy and I procrastinated severely. I apologize. Anyway, for those of you who are still watching and reading my posts, I thank you graciously. You're awesome! And I give to you my latest movie, which I edited and wrote. Please tell me what you think.

Title: The Final Word

Thank you for watching!

Expect the Unexpected

Due to unfortunate reasons, I had to drop Photography this summer. I attended the first class, picked up two free 35mm cameras from a nice man who didn't need them anymore, and then had to drop it. I plan to take it during a full semester when I can do more projects, and I'm still intending to take the writing course.

I was officially registered today for my short film production class this fall. I am officially living in a dorm this fall, as well, which will make movie-making a million times easier. I am currently updating from my brand new 15" Macbook Pro laptop, which will soon have Final Cut Pro on it, which in the long run will save me years of frustration and stress by allowing me to edit my movies whenever I want to rather than whenever I can book a slot in the editing room at school. Plus, no one can tinker with my stuff if I piss them off by forcing them out when it's my time to edit (you'd think people would be good about that stuff).

As far as movie updates go, I misplaced a few of my jump drives containing the two previously mentioned movies from English and Theatre. I found on another jump drive that I'd saved the dream movie, but it has a few audio glitches. It's fairly entertaining, though. I give to you The Significance of Dreaming. If you watch it, please let me know what you think. =)

Erm....I suppose this is as about as much as I can put out at the moment. Oh, wait, no! I found the video that was taken of me when I had to write and act in the short play project in the fall of 2009. Mind you, I embarrass the hell out of myself so if you really want to see it, click here. Be warned, some lewd jokes and unknowingly exposed butt are in store. I have the script somewhere so I'll put it up soon (this time I mean it). I just have to convert it to fit a post here.

Until later! I hope everyone is doing well!

I have officialy registered for my summer and fall classes. It was definitely easier to get into a summer class than it was to get into a winter class, let me tell you...some other time, perhaps.

Here is my list of classes:

Introductory Photography

Creative Writing: Narrative (Short Fiction)

FALL 2010:
Human Origins
Acting I
Screenwriting (Full-length screenplay)
Story Production (4 short films)
Beginning German

I will be swamped but oh so happy! And I may live on campus next semester, too. As for current news, my theatre class has finally been assigned the final project in which we must write a story, make a trailer or short film, and present in front of the entire class. The plan is to shoot this week, edit next week, and present the week after. My group has 5 people in it and it's hectic because 4 people have a clear time, and one person won't be able to make it. Aggravating, indeed.

For my English class, I wrote a 10-page argumentative research paper about the significance of dreams and the sleeping, dreaming processes in relation to the body, mind, functions, and creative process. I will take that paper and transform it into a movie, and so far I plan to include clips from the films I've made, some interviews with people and their opinions of dreams, and maybe just have a few people read excerpts from the essay in some documentary-esque way.

Wish me luck!

The Tides Are Moving to Etsy

Well, I wouldn't exactly call myself a tide, but I did move from ArtFire to Etsy. Rather, I'm in the process of moving from ArtFire to Etsy. It's more expensive but it will be worth it as Etsy gets more traffic than ArtFire. Although the transition is more complicated because I deleted all my item photos off my computer and Etsy requires those photos while posting an item. Sigh. I did, however, create a business card design and I posted a few items on Etsy.

Here is the new site.

So please take a look if you haven't already. A quick note, also. I'm planning on beginning a DIY series on YouTube, opening with a rad jewelry organizer. I want the channel to mix my creativity via movies and also show the side of me that is creative with items. I figure if I appear more well-rounded, I have an advantage over other students who just make movies (like those really stupid ones where they to interviews with strangers and make fun of them afterwards). I'm rather enjoying the route this journal it taking. =) Thanks everyone!

Novels vs. Films

I'm facing a dilemma with several story ideas. I think they'd make wonderful stories, but movie-wise, they'd be plain awesome, too. I don't even want to think about adapting my own work for the screen, though, so I wrote a short introduction that could tip me either way. Please help? Just let me know whether this would make a more interesting movie or a more interesting story. Thanks!!

The S.U.N.Y.-wide film festival I mentioned? Three videos sent in. The remix of "Fantasque" and "All Torn Up" which are Creative Commons appropriate, and "The Last Chip". I will edit this post later with the links to the new versions of "Fantasque" and "All Torn Up" so you can see the legal and hopefully improved films. In the meantime, I'm going to find out whether or not I'll be notified if any of my movies are picked to be played.

EDIT: Unfortunately YouTube is being a pain (again!) and is refusing what they've listed as the two best files formats to upload, so the videos will have to be re-exported as those files instead of converted using a different program. Perhaps this is a sign that the original versions were better in all their illegal glory?

Hospitals, Movies, and A Store? Oh My!

Well I just got out of the hospital last week which put me behind in everything, but finally, the time has come where I've opened my online store! I know this doesn't exactly fit the point of this journal, blog, whatever you'd like to call it...but it's one side job for me that's significant to my creative output. I'd like to ask a favor of you guys. If you could please take a look at my shop (link below) and answer the following questions about it, I'd be very grateful. I'm trying to gauge the reaction people have to my items. You can answer the questions in a comment or a message, whichever is easier for you.

1. What is your style or taste? Do any of these items fit that style or taste?
2. What is your favorite item and why?
3. What is your least favorite item and why?
4. If a certain item was something you've been looking for, how much would you pay to get it?
5. Would you prefer to buy a small item and pay little shipping and a large item with no shipping, or a small item with no shipping and a large item with little shipping?
6. Is my banner interesting?
7. How does my photo make you feel? Intimidated? Trusting? Amused?
8. Whether you do or don't like my shop, would you be willing to spread the word via banners, links, or word of mouth/e-mail?
9. Are the item descriptions informative enough? Convincing enough to make you interested?
10. Do my item photos look professional? Are there any improvements that need to be made such as lighting, positioning of the item, backgrounds, item quality, etc.?
11. Do you have any questions or comments for me that don't address the previous questions I've asked?

Thank you! =)

And on the topic of movies, it seems the Fall semester will be chock full of fun times. Four movies to make next semester as a group, and two to make independently after that? Yes!!! I can't wait! =)

Hope This Isn't a Habit

Either I'm too busy or I'm too lazy, but I'm getting behind in updates. It all started back when the zombies attacked the farm....

Um, no. Let's try that again.

Beginning with my film criticism class, I received a 92/100 on our first assignment. I was extremely happy because my professor is a tough guy to impress. We finished watching Capra movies and have moved on to Fellini. While Fellini is undoubtedly more interesting than Capra, the movie we saw, "La Strada", really didn't have a plot. I liked it, but at the end of the film I was still asking myself, "What happened to Rosa?!?!" And I have yet to find out. Before watching "La Strada", however, our professor announced the winner of the Sterling Scholarship. Drum roll please..."And the winner is...." Not me.

But I can manage without it. I've been looking into two schools to transfer to, SUNY Purchase and Cooper Union, but my chances of getting in are slim, and they're both going to cost a fortune for room and board.

My grades are phenomenal for a freshman, or so I'm told. I had my B- from last semester changed to an A-. My professor mistakenly didn't add 10 points for participation and attendance to my grade. My now 4.00 GPA is going to bring in some serious cash (or so I hope). Give me money, colleges!!

My film professor told us about the SUNY-Wide Film Festival, in which I will enter at least one movie, probably "The Last Chip" because there aren't any copyright issues. I'm going to try and strip the music from "All Torn Up" and hand it in without sound or with a different song, but either way it's going to be all torn up itself without that song I initially chose. Finally, I was thinking I would turn in "Fantasque" and do that same thing with the music. I have several layers of tracks, including the voice over by itself, so I can easily remove the audio and add on a new song track with the same vocal track all over again.

Film and college aside, I have broken down and really gone to work designing a site to sell my crafts on. Purses, plush dolls, jewelry, wallets, apparel, neckwear (scarves, cowls), headwear (headbands, hair pins), brooches, etc., etc. It's hosted by Weebly and I'm having some issues coming up with a name for the "business". Any help you can give would be much appreciated. =)

The logo I'm thinking of is a twisted white bonsai tree with bright leaves in blues, pinks, and purples. My items will mostly include at least one recycled or thrifted factor (fabric, wire, beads, etc.) and my items will hopefully come across as having a secret, surreal, or dream-like quality in at least one part of the product.

The names others and myself have come up with so far:
Dream Speak
Jar of Dreams (which is the title of two semi-popular books, so I'm iffy about it)
Waking Dreams
Dream Seeds
Dionysaic Dreamer
Dream Queen
Surrealist Dreams
Dream Renditions

And that is my update. Profound, I know. =P
